Eddie Howe backs Newcastle’s seek for sporting director

Newcastle United supervisor Eddie Howe has backed the membership’s plans to usher in a sporting director, with the Magpies hopeful of creating an appointment earlier than the New Yr.

90min revealed earlier this month that former Chelsea chief Michael Emenalo was in talks and one of many main candidates for the job.

It’s understood former Lille sporting director Luis Campos can also be eager, and they’re the highest contenders as a result of likes of Ajax’s Marc Overmars and former Liverpool man Michael Edwards ruling themselves out.

Newcastle’s house owners are concentrating on appointing a sporting director after the arrival of Howe and his backroom employees, and sources have advised us that they ‘hope’ to have a deal finalised earlier than December.

And Howe, though not concerned within the recruitment course of, has backed their determination to usher in a sporting director and says he’ll ‘embrace’ the prospect to work with whoever is available in.
